ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Abhinav, and I am an independent filmmaker in the DFW Area who writes, directs, edits, and occasionally steps in front of the camera to tell stories that sit somewhere between the surreal and the sincere. I’m drawn to the absurd, the off-kilter, and the quietly unnerving moments that shape our lives. My work often lives at the intersection of comedy and thriller, using heightened scenarios to explore deeply human questions.
I didn’t go to film school. I learned by growing my film taste, learning from the masters, and doing. That instinct led to A Walk Home, my first short film, and more recently to Unwelcome Home, a project that means a great deal to me.
I work freelance in various roles on other productions — mostly as a PA or script supervisor — but my heart is always in building out my own voice and projects. I believe filmmaking is as much about process as product, and I'm driven by the thrill of crafting something from scratch, however small the crew or strange the concept.
When I’m not making films, I write about them. I run a Substack where I review and analyze new releases, because I believe engaging critically with cinema sharpens my artistic instincts. I’m inspired by filmmakers like Truffaut and Bogdanovich — artists who lived in dialogue with the medium.
My goal is simple: to make films on my own terms, share them widely, and keep growing as a storyteller. I want to create work that digs into the absurdity, melancholy, and wonder of being human, and maybe makes someone feel a little less alone.
